Hinamatsuri Japanese Doll's Festival Girl's Day Amigurumi PDF Crochet Pattern by HandmadeKitty

Hina matsuri is a traditional japanese festival held every year in March.
It is beleived that both dolls, Empress and Emperor absorb all illness and bad spirits of young girls. Women in Japan also display them at home to bring good luck and good fortune in their marriages.

The imperial dolls are usually placed on a base and in front of a gold folding screen which I designed in a painting style of the Edo Period with Mount Fuji, the japanese risen sun and sakura cherry blossom flowers in two shades of pink which represent happiness. The two paper or silk lamps are also part of this traditional set.
